Thoraxklinik at Heidelberg University Hospital

The Thoraxklinik Heidelberg holds a lead position in diagnosis and treatment of lung diseases, not just in Germany but in all of Europe, with around 10,000 admissions, 8,600 outpatient visits, and 2,300 surgical procedures performed annually. Since 2012 the Thoraxklinik is part of the University Hospital Heidelberg. Patient care and clinical research benefit from the interdisciplinary collaboration between the departments of pneumology, oncology, surgery, and radiology. The Heidelberg Lung Biobank, located at the Thoraxklinik, promotes translational research projects across institutions and provides a one-stop hub for easy access to biomaterials.

The DKFZ is the largest biomedical research institute in Germany and a member of the Helmhotz Association of National Research Centers.
