The German Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Mukoviszidose e.V.) is funding a project on the antibacterial effect of specific fatty acids on the growth of pathogenic germs in the lungs. The project aims to develop new therapeutic approaches and to complement existing treatment options. The research group is led by Professor Alexander Dalpke, Medical Director of the Department of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene of the Centre for Infectious Diseases at Heidelberg University Hospital (UKHD), Prinicipal Investigator of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL), and Andrew Tony-Odigie, Research Associate of the Department of Medical Microbiology and Hygiene at the UKHD.
