The evaluation of the "Highly Cited Researchers" is carried out by the analytics company "Clarivate". It is based on all articles in scientific journals listed in the "Web of Science Core Collection" and published between 2011 and 2021. All citations of the respective year were counted, across various fields such as medicine, natural sciences, economics and social sciences. A total of approximately 6,900 researchers were included in the list, out of which 369 are from Germany.
