|   News

TLRC-scientist Prof. Dr. Michael Kreuter, Head of the Center for Interstitial and Rare Lung Diseases of the Thoraxklinik at Heidelberg University Hospital, has received the Research Award of the Rosemarie Germscheid Foundation 2020.

The prize was awarded by the Deutsche Rheuma-Liga Bundesverband e.V. for the first time. Under the theme "Participation and patient involvement", current publications or idea sketches could be submitted. The two best contributions were each awarded 5000 euros.

The application by Prof. Dr. Michael Kreuter was awarded in the category "Idea Sketch". Pulmonary complications are responsible for at least 10 to 20 percent of deaths in patients with rheumatoid arthritis. To date, there is a lack of recommendations for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of these lung diseases. The idea of the proposal is to create such patient-oriented recommendations in collaboration with national and international patient organizations in order to improve the prognosis and quality of life of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
