Education
After successfully completing his studies in Medical Informatics at the University of Heidelberg, Karsten Senghas initially worked as a research assistant in the CCP-IT of the DKTK at the German Cancer Research Centre. In 2017, he joined the Thorax Hospital Heidelberg. His scope of responsibilities includes the utilisation of data originally collected primarily for the purpose of treatment for biomedical research in compliance with ethical and data protection aspects, as well as the liaison with the central data management of the German Centre for Lung Research.
Expertise
Karsten Senghas is part of an interdisciplinary team which draws on competences from different fields (computer science, biology, mathematics) to convert unstructured data into formats suitable for further scientific evaluation. This involves extensive ETL-processing for integration of large datasets into the Thoraxklinik internal database as well as the DZL data warehouse. Researchers from all DZL sites are being supported from the onset of study design, including data collection processes, to ensure data collection and analysis are meeting data quality requirements.
