Education & Training

Hans-Ulrich Kauczor studied medicine at the Universities in Bonn, Heidelberg and Cologne, Germany. After his graduation, he completed his residency in radiology and received his “Habilitation” degree at the University of Mainz in 1998. Since 2003 he is Full Professor for Radiology and he was Head of the Department of Radiology at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) from 2003-2008. Since 2008 he is holding the positions of Chairman of Radiology and Medical Director of the Clinic of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital Heidelberg.

He is an expert in clinical and scientific work applying computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in the fields of chest diseases and oncology.
 

Committees / Memberships

He served as President of the European Society of Thoracic Imaging (2011), the German-Japanese Radiological Affiliation (2011-2013), the International Workshop of Pulmonary Functional Imaging (2011-2015) and the Fleischner Society (2015). He also served as Chair of the research committee and member of the executive committee of the European Society of Radiology (2013-2016). Since 2018 he is Chair of the Translational Lung Research Center Heidelberg and member of the Board of Directors of the German Center of Lung Research (DZL).
